It's Official!

Greg and I received official word on Monday, September 8, that we have been approved to adopt a baby from China! We are beyond excited! A couple of months ago we started talking about the prospect of adopting. The more we talked and prayed about it the more abundantly clear it became that God was leading us 1. to adopt in China and 2. to use Chinese Children Adoption International (CCAI) agency. We met with a couple of people who had gone through the process, requested a packet from CCAI, and the ball was rolling!

As soon as we received the packet we quickly filled out our application and mailed it in on Saturday, August 30. After receiving word from CCAI that we have been approved we filled out our fee agreement, made the first appointment for our home study, and ordered our birth certificates. The "paper chase" has officially begun. We've been told that the dossier takes 3-5 months to complete - depending on how quickly we work and how quickly the government agencies involved work. Our goal is to have the dossier complete by December 15. We are not officially on the list in China until our dossier has been logged in.

CCAI has informed us that the current wait is 3 years. We say we are in the first of 12 trimesters!
